30-Year Changes in Oak-Hornbeam Forest after Windthrow

چکیده
Hurricane winds are one of the most important abiotic factors in shaping structure forest and processes that occur it. The aim research was to determine regeneration changes stands caused by windstorm 1983. research, based on stand tables from years 1982, 1984, 1989 2014, carried out nine permanent plots Bia?owie?a Forest. mean number trees (MNT) taller than 1.30 m decreased 13.7% after windstorm. In MNT increased compared 1984 (142%) (53%). A significant decrease share Picea abies (L.) H. Karst., thicker 7 cm DBH a increase Carpinus betulus L. observed. Species richness for indicated significantly lower species 1982 (12 species) (14) 2014 (16). did not have direct effect richness, composition or distinguished tree layers, except 55 DBH. observed density layers prove process does start immediately continues even 30 Intermediate-severity windthrow accelerated natural structure.

Soil and Tree Ring Chemistry Changes in an Oak Forest
Changes in soil chemistry due to historic large-scale disturbances, e.g. pollution inputs, storm damage, and logging, have previously been shown to cause similar changes in the nutrient concentrations found in tree rings. Repeated soil sampling in a reference watershed at the Coweeta Hydrologic Laboratory (Otto, NC) in 1970, 1990, and 2004 showed significant decreases in cation concentrations a...
متن کاملLong-term changes in forest structure and species composition of an upland oak forest in Arkansas
Describing long-term dynamics in oak stands is hindered by a lack of archival data. In this study, archival data from the 1934 inventory of a 673ha area within the Sylamore Experimental Forest were compared to a recent 2002 inventory to quantify changes in forest structure and species composition of this upland oak forest in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. When established in 1934, the Sylamor...
متن کاملSpruce-fir forest changes during a 30-year nitrogen saturation experiment.
A field experiment was established in a high elevation red spruce (Picea rubens Sarg.) - balsam fir (Abies balsamea) forest on Mount Ascutney Vermont, USA in 1988 to test the nitrogen (N) saturation hypothesis, and to better understand the mechanisms causing forest decline at the time. The study established replicate control, low and high dose nitrogen addition plots (i.e., 0, 15.7 and 31.4kgNH...

Terrestrial isopods were collected in 13 forest fragments differing in area (within the range of 0.1 and 254.5 ha), shape and composition of forest vegetation (thermophilous oak, mesophilous oak-hornbeam, thermophilous oak-hornbeam, acidophilous oak, basiphilous oak, beech oak-hornbeam, moist mixed deciduous forest, plantations of deciduous and coniferous trees), all situated in the Český kras ...
متن کاملThe impact of fire on the forest and plants diversity in Iranian Oak forest
Fire, as a natural ecological disturbance factor in forest, this study located in the Marivan region, Northern Zagros forest, and western Iranian state of Kurdistan. In each burned and unburned area 30 circle sample plot (1000 m2) were collected by randomized–systematic method in the 100×200 m net (in total 60 plots). In every sample plot the kind of species, number of tree, the heig...
